Botswana Life Insurance Limited hosts Classic Run Press Confrence
As part of Botswana Life Insurance Limited’s commitment to uplifting the communities it serves, the leading insurer hosted the media fraternity to a press conference in anticipation of the upcoming Botswana Life Classic Run billed for the 7th October 2018. The half marathon is part of Botswana Life’s determination and commitment to promote a healthy lifestyle and uplift the community.
At the event, Botswana Life announced their partnership with two of Botswana’s elite runners’ clubs, Gaborone Striders and Run Wid It. As a build up to the Classic Run half marathon, Botswana Life has begun hosting a series of activations around Gaborone with the participating clubs which also include the BIHL runners’ club. The first of these was held on Saturday 4th August 2018, with a 21km route from Game City to Airport Junction. The organisation has revealed that they have two remaining activations in August and September respectively, before gearing up for the Classic Run.
Said Botswana Life PR, Communications & Marketing Manager, Tebogo Keepetsoe, “We have a vested interest in the health and social well-being of our community, and the Classic Run marathon is our way of promoting an active lifestyle in Botswana. We strongly advocate for sport development and are staunch supporters of community engagement through active sport. It is not only something we feel we are obligated to do, but something we are passionate about being involved in.”
Botswana Life further shared that the marathon starting point will be at their Head Office in Fairgrounds, at 06:00HRS. The marathon will include a 5km fun run, as well as 10km and 21km run. The 10km run also includes a corporate challenge where an organization can register a team of five employees to participate. Registration will be done online with forms available on the Botswana Life’s website and payments can be done online as well to the Classic Run FNB account or physically at any FNB branch. Botswana Life will host a 2 day exhibition prior to the marathon, on the 6th and 7th October where participants are to bring Omang and proof of payment to receive their race number and get a chance to visit stalls of all the exhibitors.
The platform allows Botswana Life to engage further with its customers and the community while encouraging an active lifestyle. The organisation further expressed its resolute commitment to contributing to the socio-economic prosperity of Botswana.
“We are very excited about the Classic Run Half Marathon. The team has put in an incredible amount of work to ensure that it is a success, hence today’s press conference. We want Batswana to play an active role in ensuring that they live a healthy lifestyle, and this is our way of encouraging health and wellness,” concluded Mrs. Keepetsoe.
