Mr. Phodiso Brian Malope

Phodiso Brian Malope is a seasoned Legal, Risk and Compliance professional with over 15 years' experience in the financial services industry. Phodiso joined Botswana Life Insurance Limited in January 2025. Prior to joining Botswana Life, Phodiso held various management positions in various institutions including Standard Chartered Bank, Letshego Holdings Limited (now Letshego Africa Holdings), Vunani Fund Managers, BIHL Group and Absa Bank Botswana. His roles have extended coverage to Risk management, Legal, Company Secretarial/ Governance, AML/CFT and Compliance. Key to some of his previous roles has been  Phodiso holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (now Nelson Mandela University), Post Graduate Certificate in Risk Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership and a C.O.P in Long Term Insurance. Phodiso is further an Associate of the Insurance Institute of South Africa. Phodiso has further had the opportunity for practical regional exposure where he held interim responsibilities at Absa Bank Uganda via a short-term assignment. Phodiso currently sits on the Board of Directors for Botswana Privatisation Holdings and has served in founding positions including on the Public Procurement Tribunal and the Botswana Public Private Partnership Task Force Steering Committee.  Outside work, Phodiso is passionate about mentorship and actively participates as a friend of Motheo Lawyers Mentorship Trust.
