In terms of the Retirement Funds Act of 2014 and its Regulations of 2017, the rules of the pension fund or provident fund should provide for a member to nominate, as a guide to the Fund, one or more dependants to receive any benefits payable from the fund on the death of the member. The Nomination of Beneficiaries form will serve as a guide to the Trustees, (who are required by law to pay death benefits to dependants and nominees of the member) when they make decisions in allocating members’ death benefits. Dependants are those who are financially dependant on you. Nominees are those who are not financially dependant but you wish that they be allocated a share of your benefits.
